The fine print
Cookies & Tracking
Version 1.0 · Effective 14 September 2026
This notice explains the cookies and similar device storage FieldNote Coffee uses. Storing or reading information on your device is regulated in Australia by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) where it involves personal information, and by Part 13 of the Telecommunications Act 1997 (Cth). We keep it simple. We only use storage that is needed to make the app work, and we do not run advertising or cross-site tracking.
1. What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file a site stores in your browser. "Local storage" works the same way but is read only by the app itself. Both let us remember you between visits.
2. Categories FieldNote uses
Essential. Required to sign you in, keep you signed in, process payments and load maps. In use today.
Functionality. Remembers small choices such as your last searched suburb and onboarding progress. In use today.
Analytics, personalisation and advertising. Not in use. FieldNote does not set analytics, personalisation or advertising cookies, and does not build advertising profiles. If we ever introduce one of these, we will ask for your consent first and you will be able to withdraw it in Profile, then Legal & Privacy.
3. What we store
Sign-in session (essential)
Keeps you signed in across pages and devices, and protects your account. Set by our authentication provider.
Until you sign out, or up to 1 year
App preferences (functionality)
Remembers small choices such as your accepted document versions, onboarding progress and recently searched suburbs.
Stored on your device until you clear it
Payments (essential)
Stripe sets cookies on its checkout to process your payment securely and detect fraud.
Set and controlled by Stripe
Maps (essential for map features)
Google Maps may store data on your device to load map tiles and remember map preferences when you view café locations.
Set and controlled by Google
4. Consent
The storage above is needed to deliver the service you ask for, so we rely on that basis rather than a consent banner. Because we run no optional tracking, there is nothing optional for you to switch off today. Your privacy preferences in Profile will list any optional category the moment one exists.
5. How to control storage
You can clear or block cookies and site data in your browser settings, usually under Privacy, or by clearing the app's data on your phone. Blocking essential storage will sign you out and may stop payments, maps and saved preferences from working.
Third-party choices: Stripe (stripe.com/privacy) and Google (policies.google.com/technologies/cookies) explain the storage they set.
6. Questions and changes
Email info@fieldnotecoffee.com.au with any questions. We will update this notice if our use of cookies changes, and the version and date shown with it will change too.
